Long Time, No Post

My Gosh, I don't know where time went! So much has happened since my last (serious) post.

-Started a new collab.
-Started a production team, where I'm an administrator: Found here.
-New projects: Faux-3D TopDownShooter, Sidescrolling shooter, platform collaboration.

And a bunch more. I can't believe it's November already!!

40th Post

Just for the fun of it, I decided to bump up the post count to forty. I think it's fair game.

Anyway, I've been working on an open-source top-down shooter engine. Stay tuned.

I'm losing inspiration, and fast!

Graphics: Old VS New

If you grew up playing the NES, SNES, Genesis, Saturn, or even N64, you know that those graphics and that style will always hold a special place. But what happens with this new stuff?

Cel shading, ray casting, and DirectX have made these all obsolete. I would like to program using these techniques, but there a ton of obstacles. That is what made the video game market successful- new techniques.

The SNES style (personal favorite) and others like it have made me pleased, and actually, very happy. I just prefer these older styles. Others who've played only on newer systems, think that these are obsolete, old, ancient, etc.

Here is a comparison of SNES to the Wii's graphics:

The SNES's graphics look superior to me, although the Wii's graphics are clearly better. It's just what I grew up on.

And for a teaser, here is a picture:
That is my latest project. Enjoy!

Mouse Gravity and Platformer

I apologize that I haven't updated in a long time. School has been keeping me busy.

My mouse gravity game is working smoothly- actually, awesome. It should be released within this week. I have managed to iron out a load of the bugs, so if you found one, it should be gone in the new version. Thanks for playing.

As for a new project I am working on, it is not so close to being finished. Honestly, I just started it today.

It is a simple platformer with a basic jumping system, also featuring ladders. Altogether, it's nothing that special, but you know there's always a gimmick. :)

Safe and Sound, and a New Game Coming

My games are totally safe to play now, and always will be. Enough with that though, I'm so excited about my new project.

I am working on a game that is largely gravity based- that is what moves you. How can gravity move you? Because I change the gravity direction from down, to the direction that the main character (in this case, a gentle ball) is relative to the mouse. So say your cursor is about 128 pixels exactly right of the ball. The ball will move right. Now because gravity causes acceleration, you will pick up momentum until you reach terminal velocity.
The aim is to control the ball calmly through a bunch of puzzles using only the mouse cursor.

Now realize that these graphics are just placeholder...
Now realize that the engine is still not perfect...
Now realize it's still far from a game...
Now realize that the game is still being optimized...
